Smoothie Time

I've been really in to making smoothies for breakfast to start off my day. As I have to get up early now to take my sister to school, it's also great for me to make a big batch for both of us.

My favourite smoothie recipe is a kind of combo I made myself, with the help of deliciouslyella (obviously!)

So I put in:

- Handful of frozen strawberries
- Frozen Banana (or two, depending on how many you are making for/how banana-ry you like it!)
- Chia seeds
- Flaxseed
- Acai powder
- Almond milk (unsweetened)

The flaxseed will make you feel even fuller as well, so if you are at school or uni, like me and my sister, you won't have a rumbling stomach in lectures of  lessons!

I also put granola on the top of the smoothies, which also makes you fuller for longer! It's the Lizi's orginal granola. It has no dried fruit or anything in, and its less in sugar than any other I have come across!

Introducing a Healthy Lifestyle

So I have decided to hop on the bandwagon and try out a load of healthy recipes and start introducing myself to a healthy lifestyle.

Looking at Youtubers such as Niomi Smart and Marcus Butler (I'm sure you've seen them), they really stick to a strict diet; and I know that Niomi herself is actually vegan. I recently watched her 'August Favourites' video, in which she showed the 'Deliciously Ella' app. I have come across Deliciously Ella before, but haven't really looked in to what she does etc. This app that she has created, has all her recipes on there - which are also all vegan, but you can always tailor it to what you want I guess. This is what I've been doing anyway. But yes, the recipes on there are super healthy and have really inspired me to really start eating healthily. In her 'About' section of her app, Ella talks about how she has a really rare condition which left her bed ridden. By severely changing her diet, she is now able to really live her life. It is truly quite amazing.

Of course, Tumblr and Instagram have also inspired me to eat healthily with images of amazing looking healthy food. I've also got my sister in to it - we will see how long this lasts! Once uni starts as well, I am hoping to join the university gym and really kick start this healthy lifestyle and a possible toned stomach. I can keep dreaming, but that's not going to help..I'm going to actually do something. My best friend, is such a good motivator as well as he's so obsessed with gym anyway - always telling me to go. Is he trying to tell me something?

This is what I had for dinner a few nights ago - I put some kale on a baking tray and put it in the oven with some salt for a few minutes, until it all crisped up. I didn't realise how yummy this really was! My obsession at the moment is sweet potato - it tastes amazing. All I did was season it with olive oil, rosemary and a bit of paprika. I then just grilled some chicken and had a few left over tomatoes..it hardly takes any time to make (about 25 minutes max as the sweet potato likes to take its time), and its super healthy!

Brighton 29.07.14-31.07.14

I've been meaning to blog these pictures for a while now - me and my sister did a spontaneous trip to the oh-so-famous Brighton. I'd been there once before, but wanted to take my little sister with me this time as I knew she'd love it. Safe to say we will definitely be moving there in the future. It's perfect for both of us - so many places to shop, boutiques, independent cafes and the seaside.

Although we were only there for a few days, it was such a fun trip. We stayed at the UMI hotel which is located right on the seafront, and is a 5 minute walk to the main shopping centre. I didn't even realise that when I booked it! They have some great rates, and we even got given a sea view room with no extra cost. It's the little things.

We obviously took a trip down the laines - which were amazing. We got up early (which is hard for us), because it just got way too busy and hot in the afternoons. We then just strolled around town and along the seafront in the evening was so much fun. Brighton Pier looked incredible with all its lights and amusements.

There's always so much going on. Everyone has their own individual style, and no one really seems to care about what anyone else thinks. It's fab. It truly is full of the weird and the wonderful.

Until we meet again, Brighton.
