So I have decided to hop on the bandwagon and try out a load of healthy recipes and start introducing myself to a healthy lifestyle.
Looking at Youtubers such as Niomi Smart and Marcus Butler (I'm sure you've seen them), they really stick to a strict diet; and I know that Niomi herself is actually vegan. I recently watched her 'August Favourites' video, in which she showed the 'Deliciously Ella' app. I have come across Deliciously Ella before, but haven't really looked in to what she does etc. This app that she has created, has all her recipes on there - which are also all vegan, but you can always tailor it to what you want I guess. This is what I've been doing anyway. But yes, the recipes on there are super healthy and have really inspired me to really start eating healthily. In her 'About' section of her app, Ella talks about how she has a really rare condition which left her bed ridden. By severely changing her diet, she is now able to really live her life. It is truly quite amazing.
Of course, Tumblr and Instagram have also inspired me to eat healthily with images of amazing looking healthy food. I've also got my sister in to it - we will see how long this lasts! Once uni starts as well, I am hoping to join the university gym and really kick start this healthy lifestyle and a possible toned stomach. I can keep dreaming, but that's not going to help..I'm going to actually do something. My best friend, is such a good motivator as well as he's so obsessed with gym anyway - always telling me to go. Is he trying to tell me something?
This is what I had for dinner a few nights ago - I put some kale on a baking tray and put it in the oven with some salt for a few minutes, until it all crisped up. I didn't realise how yummy this really was! My obsession at the moment is sweet potato - it tastes amazing. All I did was season it with olive oil, rosemary and a bit of paprika. I then just grilled some chicken and had a few left over tomatoes..it hardly takes any time to make (about 25 minutes max as the sweet potato likes to take its time), and its super healthy!
